RIP: Peter Lindbergh 1944 – 2019

Karen Alexander by Peter Lindbergh

Peter Lindbergh captured some of the images which have in many respects become a part of our collective conscious. Just a few of the images which were both formative and indelible for me and my siblings. Once seen, never forgotten.

The Worlds Most Powerful Facial?

I love a good face mask! There is something incredibly gratifying about slathering one’s face in goop whilst sipping on a glass of well-earned rosé. I have always preferred masks made of naturally occurring organic matter such as charcoal and clay. Generally, the mineral content is higher and they contain fewer nasties.

I am not entirely certain how I feel about the prospect of a “pulsating face” but if it’s good enough for Vogue magazine… x

Mostly Lovin’: Socca Pancakes

Nicoise Chickpea Pancakes

I finally got round to making Nina Parker’s Socca Pancakes. These gram or chickpea flour pancakes are super quick to whip up, incredibly filling and extremely versatile.

Nice has welcomed immigrants of Algerian and Tunisian descent over the years which I suspect may be the birthplace of this dish.

I snaffled mine with a sunnyside-up egg, smoked salmon and you guessed it…avocado. Find recipe and cooking instructions here and at“Millie and Nina’s Fast Food Series”. Délicieux!

Simply Indelible

Mostly Wearing: Rocking Reds

How red is too red?

As you may recall, I have something of an ongoing issue with the colour red. Hardly surprising you may say as in many cultures the colour red is possessed of an innate power to repel, so is it any wonder I approach red lipstick with all the caution of a plump gazelle draped in a meat-suit whilst taking a late-night stroll in the Serengeti?

Laura Mercier – Sexy Lips

But, friends this is a momentous day! It would seem that after years of dubious choices and mismatched palettes, I have finally found my preferred shade! Laura Mercier’s Sexy Lips sheer lipstick is just the right shade of blue-red for my skin tone with a hydrating satin finish which is refreshingly long-wearing. What more could a picky girl ask for? x

I’m fixing to take a trip and this OOKONN case will do just fine.

Stella McCartney UltraBOOST X 3D Primeknit Trainers

I tend to go for the somewhat unusual in my choice of sporting footwear and these futuristic trainers from Stella McCartney are ticking all the right boxes!

Birkenstocks & Il Dolce Far Niente

Now you, know I love, a good “Birkenstock” and these beauties are so on my Summer 2019 wishlist!

This Lisa Marie Fernandez linen dress is the perfect day dress for when I want to feel like a laydeee

Mostly Lovin’: Megababe Bust Dust

As you may recall, I have been undertaking something of a health overhaul of late. This has included not only adapting to a Ketogenic diet but also increasing both the level and variety of exercise I undertake each day.

This current fitness spurt has led me to make a somewhat uncomfortable discovery shall we say? It is my feeling that in general, we as women do not share those tricky little issues we encounter in our daily lives be it the unavoidable indignities of the smear test, the unforeseen horrors of the menopause, the monthly impulse to permanently abandon one’s partner in the Sainsbury’s freezer aisle! Perhaps this is because as women, we are so often “troopers” – that is to say, we simply get on with it.

Well, I for one have a complaint! As anyone with a certain bust size can attest, the general up-lift and smooching together of the breasts attributed to the wearing of a sports bra often leads to major boob-sweat. (Yes, this is indeed “a thing”)! It’s uncomfortable and quite frankly makes me long for the days of my more modest cup size, that is until I discovered Bust Dust by Megababe. The brain-child of Katie Sturino, Bust Dust was born out of necessity and the distinct lack of options in terms of non-toxic, talc-free sweat absorbing powders on the market which help to prolong freshness.

What I really admire about Sturino’s entrepreneurial stance is her honest approach to the beauty industry. Open any fashion magazine and you will no doubt come across articles discussing the perfect summer scent or the best long wearing-foundations. How to cope with boob sweat in those balmy summer months is rarely discussed let alone how to abate the dreaded thigh chafe! Anyone who is…well…human should not be surprised to learn that sometimes skin meets skin and reactions occur. The only truly surprising issue here is that the beauty industry has yet to cotton on to this most basic of facts…

Lunya Alpaca Jumpsuit

Lunya Silk Pant Set

Lately, I have found myself increasingly drawn to ever more luxurious nightwear. Let’s be clear, I do not have the type “night-life” that would necessitate such silky offerings but put simply – I love to lounge so I decided, I may as well look good whilst doing so! With the rise of upscale sleep and loungewear brands such as Yolke and Asceno, it would seem that I am not alone in my love of luxe loungewear. There is something to be said for slipping into a well-cut brushed silk number, dabbing a little Channel No 5 behind the ear before floating away into never-land. From the comfort of my lounger, I advise you to look into it. Bisous
