As you may recall, I have been undertaking something of a health overhaul of late. This has included not only adapting to a Ketogenic diet but also increasing both the level and variety of exercise I undertake each day.
This current fitness spurt has led me to make a somewhat uncomfortable discovery shall we say? It is my feeling that in general, we as women do not share those tricky little issues we encounter in our daily lives be it the unavoidable indignities of the smear test, the unforeseen horrors of the menopause, the monthly impulse to permanently abandon one’s partner in the Sainsbury’s freezer aisle! Perhaps this is because as women, we are so often “troopers” – that is to say, we simply get on with it.
Well, I for one have a complaint! As anyone with a certain bust size can attest, the general up-lift and smooching together of the breasts attributed to the wearing of a sports bra often leads to major boob-sweat. (Yes, this is indeed “a thing”)! It’s uncomfortable and quite frankly makes me long for the days of my more modest cup size, that is until I discovered Bust Dust by Megababe. The brain-child of Katie Sturino, Bust Dust was born out of necessity and the distinct lack of options in terms of non-toxic, talc-free sweat absorbing powders on the market which help to prolong freshness.
What I really admire about Sturino’s entrepreneurial stance is her honest approach to the beauty industry. Open any fashion magazine and you will no doubt come across articles discussing the perfect summer scent or the best long wearing-foundations. How to cope with boob sweat in those balmy summer months is rarely discussed let alone how to abate the dreaded thigh chafe! Anyone who is…well…human should not be surprised to learn that sometimes skin meets skin and reactions occur. The only truly surprising issue here is that the beauty industry has yet to cotton on to this most basic of facts…
