Mostly Lovin’: Balmain Silk Perfume

Show Stopper!

Show Stopper!

Have I told you how amazing my hair smells of late? Really.. I haven’t? Silly me. Since discovering Balmain Silk Perfume my tresses currently exude the perfume of a freshly styled, buffed and manicured supermodel, no really. I can’t explain how lovely this stuff smells except to say think Gisele skipping through a field of Fresias. OK, I’ll try harder, a lightweight leave-in conditioner with a summery, sherbet, fresh scent enriched with Argan and Silk proteins, once you start spritzing with this stuff it’s really quite hard to stop. I love that it has multiple uses as a detangler, conditioner for both hair and scalp all the while adding shine and protection against external damage.

I am reliably informed this is the final touch for models taking to the catwalk at Balmain shows, alors what more could a girl ask for?

Wanted for Summer: Creed Perfume, Virgin Island Water

creed perfume, niche scent, jo malone

An intoxicating blend of Sicilian White Bergamot, Jamaican Lime, Sicilian Mandarin, this is what the Caribbean smells like! Think of the sweet aromas of fruit carried on the breeze, intermixed with the coconut oils of various intermingled sun creams and expensive perfume and there you have the ultimate holiday fragrance… simply bliss in a bottle. x

Mostly Lovin’: Le Labo Santal 33

An Olfactory Dream

I was recently given a bottle of Le Labo’s renowned fragrance Santal 33. Inspired by the American West and the dream of “big sky country”, this is not a fragrance for the olfactory wallflower. With woody, spicy and leather accords, this long-wearing unisex scent transposes throughout the day to reveal base notes of cedarwood, amber and musk making for an extremely sensual sensory experience.

Those seeking a similar yet lighter santal fragrance might try Miller Harris Peau Santal which is equally beguiling yet softer overall.

Bonne année! Bisous.

Mostly Tryin’: Cosrx Snail Mucin Essence

Anyone for Snail Drool?

Recently I find myself plumbing ever more bazaar depths in my quest for a facial moisturizer which will both enhance the overall appearance of my skin whilst ensuring I never look a day over twenty-five! I have heard much chatter about Corsx Snail Mucin Essence so I decided it was high time I got my hands on some of this highly-lauded goop.

My reasoning is simple. I am rather partial to a snail, particularly when sauteed in a Persillade of garlic butter and herbs, alors, if I can merrily chomp on them, dabbing their mucous secretions of my face should be a walk in the park…or at least that was my reasoning.

I’ve been using the essence for a week now and I must say, there is definite plumpness to my skin and something of a dewy glow. With zero perfume and the consistency of well…slime, my skin seems decidedly hydrated. So, it seems I may finally have found a use for the little blighters currently dining out in my vegetable patch! Just kidding… X

Mostly Lovin’: Gisou Honey-based Haircare

There was a time when I firmly believed honey to be the secretions of something truly unholy but no more mes amis! Not only am I now prone to slathering the amber nectar on my face as an antibacterial antioxidant-rich face mask, but I am also loving honey and its inimitable fragrance in my haircare products.

I recently managed to get my sticky fingers on the Gisou propolis infused hair oil and hair perfume. As a woman of colour, I have long been a fan of Hair oil and I can happily report the Gisou hair oil to be one of my favourites! High in amino acids and antioxidants, the oil coats each strand in a fragrant shield of moisture whilst imparting the most delicious honey scent. I am so taken with the honey aroma I was compelled to purchase the hair perfume… what can I say…” girl’s gotta do”… Bisous

Mostly Lovin’: Oribe Côte d’Azur Parfum, https://w

I’m a huge fan of Oribe’s high end hair-care line. Not only does it contain some of the finest formulations and aesthetically pleasing packaging but the beautiful signature fragrance of lychee, edlerweisse flower, lemon, bergamot and sandalwood puts me in mind of long summer nights in Portofino or some such magical place…

My love affair with the brand began when I stumbled upon the Glaze for Beautiful Colour which I have to say is incredibly nourishing and even managed to impart a degree of luster to my chemically abused locks.
The fragrance can be used to perfume both skin and hair which is a bonus in my book! x

Mostly Lovin’: SJP Stash

Hands Off Mitches!

When I was in my twenties I wore the perfume Black Cashmere by Donna Karan. Warm, spicy and vastly unusual, in retrospect I can appreciate this fragrance was way too grown up for me at that particular stage in my life.

Now, as a woman of a certain age – I find I gravitate to largely unisex fragrances. Lucky for me Sarah Jessica Parker – SJP has just released Stash and I have to say…I am in love with this scent!

The earthy fusion of cedarwood atlas, vetiver (I am obsessed with vetiver!), and pistachio with the musk of bergamot serves to create a seamless fragrance which is both sensual and unexpected on both men and women alike.

I have taken to dousing myself in it an hour or so before leaving the house by which time it has soaked into my skin to create a fragrance akin to clean summer skin. Conversely, I think Stash may be more of a winter fragrance but I would be interested to know your thoughts. xx

Mostly Lovin’: Balmain Haircare

Hair Couture

This Balmain hair mask is super hydrating and smells simply divine. I slather on once a week (or twice if I’m feeling decadent) to revive dry, fatigued locks.

Mostly Lovin’: Blanche By Byredo

I have long held Scandinavian perfumer Byredo in high regard. Innovative and unique, I could merrily collect each of the perfumes as well as the intoxicating scented candles. As the name suggests, Blanche is clean cut and refreshing, think freshly laundered crisp whites on a dewy summers morning…
My only complaint (and it is a small one), the fragrance is quite short lived and since I often use perfumed body lotion in the warmer months instead of conventional perfume, it could work out to be quite a costly indulgence in the long run!

Summer Sense, bronze goddess perfume

There is something so wonderfully evocative about perfume and familiar aromas. For a long time now I have associated memorable days with particular scents. For example, Jean Paul Gaultier’s “Classic” women’s fragrance will always bring to mind my first kiss. Bronze Goddess by Estee Lauder puts me in mind of late summer evenings or days spent lazing on the beach in the Caribbean. Laced with vetiver, mandarin and a hint of coconut to remind you it is a summer fragrance, a quick spritz of this and I could be lying on a hammock somewhere north of Brazil. What’s your go-to summer fragrance? x
